The subtitles no longer showing up appear to be some kind of regression, though they used to desync. I will find the build that they stopped showing up. Confirmed in NTSC as well now.
What issue is more important? The subtitles stopping showing up, or the subtitles being desynced? Should we separate them?

It gets more interesting - at some point subtitles didn't show up at all.

I have the same problem (desync) in the NTSC version on 4.0.2. I didn't notice any disappearance of subs, but I didn't get more than an hour in--mostly because I disliked the gameplay. :)

I dislike the game as well, but it's my duty as a project member to try and figure out why it's not working right.
The desyncing voices are fixed in latest Dolphin, but the subtitles seem to be messed up. Do you have any idea when the subtitles started disappearing?

I used to use dolphin 3.5(i think) and there the audio was desynced and i had horrible lag but the subtitles did show up. Since i updated to 4.0 they were gone.

We found out that the subtitles can be off on console when doing some research on the game. 4.0-4222 fixes the subtitles disappearing, so I'm marking this bug as fixed. Thanks everyone for your report!
