Description

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
The XGD spec makes it easier to backup and organize program specific files
http://standards.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir-spec-latest.html

If it's to annoying to actually implement the distinction between $XDG_DATA_HOME (normally ~/.local/somedistrolocation) and $XDG_CONFIG_HOME (normally ~/.config/nameofprogram/)

even just the second doing 'double duty' would be nicer than just dumping the dir in a hidden file in the home dir.

What did you expect to happen instead?

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
Ubuntu, but XGD is shared across distros.
