Description

Game Name?

METAL GEAR SOLID THE TWIN SNAKES

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Info tab)

GGSEA4

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Verify tab, Verify Integrity button)

0720e3d3fe42587b2ce22fbb8a60b847

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

The Codec screen won't be rendered correctly unless "Store XFB copies to texture only" is disabled. The gameini doesn't default to this.

Open MGS, "store XFB copies to texture only" won't be set to off so if it was on the codec screen won't render correctly

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Yes 5.0-1271

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

Not applicable, this just needs a gameini update

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

Not applicable, this just needs a gameini update
Also the bisect tool for Windows is still broken, pls fix :(

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

Not applicable

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

i7 9750H
RTX 2070
32 GB RAM
W10 64 bits

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

The impact of this is small enough that we don't think forcing everyone to take the performance hit is worth it. That this setting is required for correct behavior should get documented on the wiki, though.

Well this issue is invalid ;)

I don't want to open yet another issue just in case this is invalid or user error so I'll ask here:

Is it normal that the heuristic to detect the aspect ratio doesn't automatically detect this game as 16:9 when using the widescreen gecko code in the wiki? The code works perfectly, but Dolphin doesn't detect it's 16:9, I have to set it manually to force 16:9 in the graphics option rather than leaving it on Auto.

You may want to leave a comment about it in issue 12254.
