Description

Game Name?

Any Wii game (thoroughly tested with my whole library: WarioWare Smooth Moves, Wii Play, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Super Paper Mario, SMG1 and 2, Mario Kart Wii, Family Feud Decades, Animal Crossing City Folk, and Okami.)

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Info tab)

Pretty much any Wii game

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Verify tab, Verify Integrity button)

N/A

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

When hitting the Home button and going to the Wii menu, the game crashes.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Update to the newest dev version of Dolphin
  2. Play any Wii disk
  3. Hit the home button
  4. Attempt to go to the Wii Menu

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Yes, and it was present a few development versions ago. As of this writing, the current development version is 5.0-14748.

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

No.

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

Unsure; bisect tool crashed when I tried comparing.

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

Intel Core i5-3570
Nvidia GTX 1650
Windows 10

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

Fifolog of going through WarioWare Smooth Moves to Wii Menu attached.
Screenshot of the error message attached.

This user also has a log of what happened, exhibiting the same issue: https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/12456

Unable to reproduce. You may have a broken NAND (for instance, the Wii Menu is installed but the IOS it uses is not).

Also could be a missing game IOS.

The thing is, I haven't touched the NAND at all since I first set up Dolphin, so I don't think that's the issue. I'm also highly doubtful that more IOSes have been required recently for a new development version. If it's all of my games, I feel like it's a Dolphin problem instead of the NAND.

5.0 had a hack that didn't require the IOS files to do boots, but newer builds do. This is to help with booting games with various IOS differences iirc.

Actually being in the Wii Menu is fine, but going to it from a game is where the issue arises, and I don't want to have to completely restart Dolphin to go to the Wii Menu and say, select a WiiWare game or something.

What IOS files would I need? And I was able to go to the Wii Menu just a few dev versions ago.

Tried repairing the System NAND, but the problem still kept happening. This is effectively a default NAND.

Are you using a dumped NAND? Or are you using a generated NAND from Dolphin? Have you performed an online System Update in the tools menu? Have you made sure that the NAND isn't corrupted due to running 5.0, which is known to cause issues.

Tried repairing again and it works now? Not sure what happened.

Thanks? Thought it'd delete my RiiConnect files but it works now.
