Description

The plan is to emulate wiimotes in two different ways:

  1. Use keyboard and mouse, together with a scripting language (maybe Lua)
to generate accelerometer and IR readings. Scripts would be user-editable,
so controls can be customized for each game.

  2. Connect via Bluetooth to a real wiimote.

At the moment, I'm trying to fix the low-level communication between emulated
software and wiimote.

I wonder how exact this would end up being using a mouse as a Wii-mote. I would think
it would be even more sensitive and better to use than the actual Wii-mote itself.

Can't wait to test this out one day, keep up the good work on this emulator, guys.

I think the reason he is doing keyboard/mouse is so it doesnt interfere with people
who use the WII remote as a mouse interface on there computers. At lest thats why I
asked for it to be done this way :)

Or for people who are too cheap to buy a BT dongle and Wii wiimote and accessories.

Yay! I definitely want to know when connecting to a real Wiimote works. I've got the
setup already, and the emulated wiimote doesn't seem to support extensions. (I
finished ripping Galaxy from my Wii, and it gets far enough to tell me that I need
to plug in the nunchuck, which is exciting in a number of ways.) I'm working on
ripping the rest of my library to test this out.

My opinion: Using the emulated wiimote is fine for games that only use the pointer
or the buttons, but I think a real wiimote is going to be necessary to properly test
out any motion controls if the emulator can get close to the right speed someday.
So, I like that you're setting it up both ways, that makes me happy.

F|res has done it! Real wiimote support has been commited to SVN. Still very early
support but I used it this morning and it does work! Per F|res all attachments
should work!
