Description
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Play TOS 1 or 2 and enter to a battle or dungeon
- Then get out from the door you enter
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The speed will decrease randomly very often from full speed (60fps) to 6fps
Dolphin version with the problem? Other Dolphin version without the
problem?
Dolphin x64 Revison 6285 <---- Since the change in FIFO for NBA Jam to work Dolphin start to working like I describe above :(
Dolphin x64 Revision 6284 <---- Until this version this bug didn't happen
32-bit or 64-bit and any other build parameters?
OS version and versions of tools/libraries used?
Windows 7 Pro /Visual Studio 2008 for compiling the emu
Do you have vsync enabled? What are your settings?
Please test out r6304. If that does not fix it, the problem is probably in the texture cache (r6288).
ToS seems to suffer from the same issues as SoA, so the slowdowns in both are probably related.
@skidau, I have vsync enabled, EFB---> RAM or texture is the same and CPU-->EFB enabled, internal resolution x2, fragtional or integral is the same. I have the same settings in revision 6284 and the emu works perfect. My system: i3 at 3.8Ghz, Ati HD 3650 with 512 of VRAM, 2GB of RAM and mainboard biostar ht55b. I'm going to try this revision and I'll let you know :)
I was just about to make a report on this. Yeah, Tales of Symphonia 2 is practically unplayable at many parts. I had perfect performance with previous revisions.
I've tried A LOT of configurations. I've enabled and diabled vsync, audio throttle, PAL60 mode, OpenCL, EFB to texture and much more. I've tried using every graphics plugin as well. Of course, dual core and idle skipping were enabled and I didn't mess with the CPU emulator engine.
I've also tried later revs and it seems it's kept getting worse and worse through the revisions. It was still kind of bad with 6284 though, not as bad as with newer revisions though. I just tried revision 6284 and then went back down to 6283 and got a 10% speed boost. I was getting very good performance with revision 6239 though, but I think 6284 is when it all went downhill.
The bug is still there, it's the same as always, speed decrease without any reason, not just in Tales of saga but also in many different games :(
I can also comfirm this issue really strange, randomly happens a quick fix i found is if your on a map quickly access the game menu and exit the menu that will make the game go 60fps again
tested in r6299 x64
tos 1
tried with both opengl & dx11 plugin
Have you got a save game or save state near where the issue occurs? I've just tried entering battles with TOS1 and the game runs full speed all of the time.
It's randomly. Sometimes in dungeons you enter to a room and then go to another room, as soon as you enter to the other room, the game decrease its fps from fullspeed to 6 fps or less. Hmm, this happens more often in Tales of Symphonia Wii or Arc Rise Fantasy. in TOS (Game cube) it happens after a few battles :(
in Tales of Symphonia 1 (GC)
the easiest way i was able to reproduce it a few times was in the very first scene when starting a new game (after the intro and talking), when all the talking is done and you get control of the character there is a good chance the frame rate will drop.
if not walk to the left of the screen and finnish that dialog and fps should drop try it on single core mode if above doesnt work.
this method i was able to reproduce it 5-6 times
here are some screen shots
first is the initial fps drop (in this case 20fps sometimes its as bad as 6 fps)
http://i55.tinypic.com/30v2kk6.jpg
second is going to menu (will bring fps back to 60)
http://i52.tinypic.com/69i2x0.jpg
third is exit menu
http://i54.tinypic.com/2lbdtfq.jpg
(now fps are back at 60)
since it happens randomly and some parts of the game where you cant access the menu it takes forever.
konajona, and this problem never occurred in r6284?
- Status changed from New to Duplicate
ok thanks, konajona. Using your instructions, I have been able to reproduce the problem. This is the same issue as the one affecting NSMBW. It started with r6288.
