Emulator Issues #506
closedMysterious crash on boot when using OpenGL and windows x64
0%
Description
What steps will reproduce the problem?
0. Use Dolphin on win64
- Boot game by double clicking it in the gamelist
- watch as the video thread poofs out of existance
I've been trying to debug this for days and haven't gotten anywhere.
I get an unhandled exception - access violation at 0. This leaves me with a
totally unhelpful stack trace: The video thread is totally zero'd out.
Need some help with this!

Changing the title because the crash doesn't seem to be repeatable under those exact
conditions for everyone...

do you know which rev started to throw this error ?
it would be a good start i guess

1911 started it (for me at least)...have at it ;)

Damn straight mysterious. Are you sure that r1910 works and r1911 doesn't?

I have noticed that if you open the DSP-HLE settings box and start a game leaving
that box open, the games seems to start just fine then. So it might be something
weard there?...

#8 .. confirmed! :) rev 1997 crashes always for me. DSP-HLE config windows open ->
ingame!

It may have to do with the OGL plugin finding the hwnd to render to. Somehow it gets
lost/incorrect and when wxw tries to "find" the window it should be rendering to , it
goes berserk. Again, not sure...

We could always debug using PanicAlerts

huh, I wasn't able to reproduce this crash on Vista x64 (with an ATI card + E6600)
strange, i'm using my own compile with r2001 and my own modified OGL plugin (the one
including Mario Galaxy hack)
i don't think the changes make such a difference though.
don't know if it makes a difference, but my CG libs are updated too... well i don't
see anything else i could say, that's strange :/

It's an ugly hack which switch between projections :p
one more clue on this error :

this per haps explain why i wasn't experiencing the crash \o/

I get the same thing on r7111. I don't know if its openGL itself, i'll run some other oGL apps to check. It's really annoying as my system is XP so doesn't support DX11...

Oh. Just dolphin then. no other oGL apps fail. EEK!
