Emulator Issues #5403
closedGC IPL Paper Mario runs too quickly (possible CPU detection issue?)

Description
- Game Name and ID:
Paper Mario TTYD: G8ME01
GameCube IPL
2) What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It's possible this is in other games, but I wasn't able to find concrete examples. Paper Mario runs extremely fast to the point where it is difficult to play. I've also noticed the issue if you open the GC IPL/BIOS menu and look at the clock; it's running about twice as fast. I've tested this on all combinations of HLE/LLE, Audio/Auto frame limits, and enabling/disabling dual core. Dolphin reports FPS 60 and VPS 60, which appears correct at face value, but something is definitely going twice as fast as it should be.
3) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on an
earlier version of dolphin? Please specify the exact revision when the
problem began.
I'm not entirely sure. I began to notice these issues when I got a new processor (3570K). Dolphin reports this processor as having "8 cores (2 logical threads per core)" on startup, which is incorrect; this processor only has 4 non-HTT cores. I'm wondering if this is partly the issue.
I just reproduced the bug on my roommate's computer with a 2500k. Both the speed issue and the core count issues are present.
4) What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Launch dolphin with an IPL enabled
- Uncheck Skip BIOS on the GameCube tab
- Hold down A when launching a GC game
- Open the Calender options
- Observe the double-rate system clock.
- What version of dolphin are you using?
Tested on 3.0-592 and 3.0-601 on a 3570k and 2500k, both with GTX 560 Ti's on Windows 7 64-bit using JIT64.
