Description

Game Name?
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader

Game ID?
GSWE64

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
The game shows a black screen forever.

What did you expect to happen instead?
I was expecting the copyright screen showing and then the bit with the Storm Troopers holding up the LucasArts logo.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]

  1. Switch backend to Software Renderer.
  2. Boot game.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
4.0-4117

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
I did not test this.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
OS: Linux Mint 17 MATE
CPU: Intel Core i3-3210
GPU: nVidia GeForce GT 520

The Software Renderer in Dolphin won't run the game at playable speeds or anything, you understand?

I can confirm though, it doesn't boot in this game, and that's a definite problem.

I know. I was mainly using it just so I could see how it looked with correct zfreeze emulation.

fun fact: Dolphin's Zfreeze in software renderer doesn't work right either :)

Really? I thought it did, at least for this game.

I've never gotten in game with the software renderer on this title to know, but I do know it fails in Mario Power Tennis.

Did you use single core or dual core for testing? Our software backend lacks the idle skip sync hack, so lots of games are broken in dual core.

Oh, I think I used dualcore. Thanks for the tip

This was fixed months ago in https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/3156. Can this be marked as fixed?

I tested this in Dolphin 5.0 and the intro shows up. I do believe this issue is still valid.

When testing I did notice that the intro graphics appear to be duplicated vertically for some reason however.

Technically fixed is the best kind of fixed. Yeah, SW's XFB emulation is trash.
