What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Loading homebrew app Aspirin (http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Aspirin) will cause Dolphin to become unresponsive with a black screen on startup and no useful information displayed in the log. Dolphin must then be force closed. This app works fine on a real Wii.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Load Aspirin in Dolphin

Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?

5.0-466

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

Win 10 Pro x64
Intel Core i7-4702MQ CPU @2.20GHz
GeForce GT 750M
2x 8GB Hynix 1600MHz
GeForce Game Ready Driver 372.54

  • Subject changed from Aspirin homebrew app causes Dolphin to become unresponsive on startup to Some Wii homebrew are launched under GameCube mode
  • Status changed from New to Accepted

This is because the heuristic Dolphin uses for detecting whether a DOL/ELF is a Wii homebrew is not perfect. Can't reproduce the "Dolphin must be force closed" part, though.

Thanks for the clarification. In Dolphin 5.0-6026, Dolphin no longer needs to be force closed but the game will not boot.
