What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.
Dolphin crashes after I close any game.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Open a game
- Close the game
Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.
5.0-994
Is the issue present in the latest stable version?
Probably not (This only started happening recently)
If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)
Sorry, but I'm not going to be bisecting through hundreds of versions to find the broken version. I can do this later on request, but not now.
If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

NVIDIA GTX 2060 graphics card
Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)
This wasn't happening on my old PC, and I recently got a new PC. However, this might not be the issue since there was a huge gap before I got this new PC where I didn't use Dolphin at all. Perhaps the issue could also be this computer itself, but due to the huge time in between and never having this issue with any past PCs, I'm going to lay the verdict on it being the emulator. If needed, I can pull out my old PC and try testing on it.

Can't reproduce. Please bisect. ;)
A bisect of even 10,000 revisions is only 14 tests.
A stacktrace would be useful too.
Updated by Roadhog360-2 about 5 years ago
There is no stack trace, or anything. Dolphin simply stops responding to any input and then disappears, without going into (Not responding) mode or throwing any errors.
I can try on my old PC soon if you want.

Are you using a custom theme? I've heard a report htat a custom theme can cause something like this.
Updated by Roadhog360-2 about 5 years ago
As stated in the post, it will happen with any.

Stop being unhelpful.
Updated by Roadhog360-2 about 5 years ago
How is that being unhelpful? It happens with any game.
I've tried:
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Super Mario Sunshine
Gecko OS
Fortune Street
I'm not sure if this is what you wanted to tell me. If you want more information you need to ask me; I cannot read minds.
Also, this is not invalid as I can confirm it's definitely happening.

- Status changed from Invalid to Questionable
It's unhelpful because you didn't want to say which games you had tested, even when specifically asked. You can't possibly have tested every game in existence. This is in addition to seemingly not wanting to bisect.
Reopening.
Updated by Roadhog360-2 about 5 years ago
I was asked which 'game' not 'games' implying they wanted a specific game, not a list. In hindsight, this is very shit judgement from me, sorry.

Happens on my old PC too. Will get its specs in a bit. I know this one has an NVIDIA GTX 1050 graphics card.

This is occurring for me as well. I've saved a minidump from the crash, and will go about bisecting now.

Can you compile Dolphin? This would be pretty trivial to debug if you compiled Dolphin in Visual Studio, ran it under the debugger, and reproduced the crash. From there, it'd give you a stack trace that would tell us everything that happened leading up to the crash. You can look up how to compile Dolphin on various operating systems on the github page if you're willing to do this.

Bisecting didn't help, as the error seems to occur even in 5.0 stable. I tried compiling and debugging from there, but I can't load a game at all while debugging - it just throws the following error:
Exception thrown at 0x000001669BE673B6 in DolphinD.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000169C988500A.

Open Dolphin.ini and disable fastmem, as it uses segfaults to function but the debugger catches them. Be sure to re-enable it later for the performance boost!

Thanks, that worked! Here's the exception:

Looks like a driver issue. Try updating your graphics driver.
Updated by Roadhog360-2 about 5 years ago
I applied my graphics driver update that came out today and the issue appears to be resolved. Note however at the time of writing this issue, there was no driver update available for me. I'll let you know if this comes up again.
Thank you all.
