"make sure it is still not working in latest revisions but I'll go a head and assign it"
Hello,
No it's not working in the latest revision. I'm using Dolphin since a while (more
than one year) and it really never worked. The graphics improved but the sound kept
... weird.
And it's a Gamecube game (heretic !)

cuts off less and for less time. Nice work!

Hello,
This issue is still not fixed. It was first reported in Issue 240 (+- 2 years ago)
and I don't remember that someone ever tried to fix it. I think it'd be great to fix
GC audio before fixing Wii audio.
Regards.

Sound has got better, but it's still not working properly...
Updated by PosiBolt almost 14 years ago
Issue still exists as of build r6630. Can be easily heard during the intro, as the sound continues to stutter and cut out. Sounds like most of the instruments have trouble playing a full note without being cut off. Sound effects seem to be ok...(explosions, battle sounds, special moves, voices, etc) but this issue is especially prevalent in the battle music, where it sounds like entire music channels are cutting in and out.
Updated by PosiBolt almost 14 years ago
LLE has very poor sound quality, loaded with static, and skips. Seems to have the same issue, but is difficult to tell, as the sound itself completely skips.
Updated by seapancake almost 14 years ago
Tested this on build 6818 (64bit) and music is perfect for the entire intro, did a comparison against http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHhHnxBpZF0
Asus 8800 GTX
4GB RAM
Windows 7 64bit
All settings default
Only problem I found was black textures on lots of characters although it never affected the sound.

LLE sounds fine but it's a bit slow in places. PosiBolt, make sure that the crc32 of your dsp_coef.bin file is d2777c90.
Updated by PosiBolt almost 14 years ago
Issue is not yet fixed. It's not the idle intro where the problem is apparent, it's when you start a new game. The first part where it's apparent is when the large battleship is flying in, and the rumble first starts to kick in. Sound cuts in and out. Still happening with version 6886. Tested with both HLE and LLE. LLE is much cleaner now, and I thank skidau for the suggestion to check my CRC for the proper file, but this issue is NOT fixed.
Updated by PosiBolt almost 14 years ago
Went back and tested again with the specific 6818 version, all default settings, and it's definitely not working. You can easily hear the sound cutting in and out as soon as you start a new game. Sorry I didn't reply sooner with this, would like to have commented before this was marked 'fixed' but I was out of town.

Windows Experience Index rating of 7.4

The audio is cutting in and out because the emulator is running slow.
Updated by PosiBolt almost 14 years ago
Everything else seems to be running at full speed, and my computer should be more than enough to handle it... There are other parts where you can tell part of the sound is cutting in and out besides the intro. It seems more related to when the instruments are trying to fade in and out, such as during the boss battle music. Depending on how well you're doing in the game, the music during the boss battles changes, and the guitar in these tracks is cutting in and out. This issue seems more specific to certain instruments fading in and out, as other tracks within the game play just fine.
Updated by skidau almost 14 years ago
Instruments fading in and out is being tracked by issue 1539.
Updated by seapancake almost 14 years ago
Update on the above I went back over the video and the game intro (not the idle intro) and can definitely hear a lack of some instruments.

I'm surprised to see my issue back in front page of the dolphin svn.
So yeah, the sound was improved a little since I posted this issue but it stills exists, and it doesn't seem to be related to the power of our computers. (I've seen this issue on overclocked i7s ...)
Updated by adam almost 14 years ago
@comment23: I concur, I also have this issue on my overclocked i7 (920 running at 4 GHz).

We cant play this game in this emu so sad i was expecting to play it after 5 year of my dead dreamcast.
Updated by hatarumoroboshi over 13 years ago
If you're interested in the Dreamcast version it is emulated very well by NullDc...here we are talking/discussing/testing about the GameCube version which unfortunately is still far from being perfect.
Updated by adam over 13 years ago
Legends has a number of extra quests not available on the Dreamcast version. It also has less random battles (but are worth more), which is always nice.

The dreamcast version still doesn't emulate properly on nullDC, so no matter how you look at it you can't fully enjoy this game emulated. Ironically, both emulators are having sound issues with this game, although the Dolphin emulators issues are a bit worse off.
Still looking forward to when this issue is fixed either way, as the game upscales beautifully.

Yeah, nulldc sucks and im not interesting in play dreamcast version so hatarumo if you dont understand what i said dont say anything,i said that i want to play the game "AGAIN" sisnce my dead dreamcast i didnt say that i want to play dreamcast version i want to play the game in gamecube for the extras add.
Updated by hatarumoroboshi over 13 years ago
No reason to get angry, If you say that you wanted to play "AGAIN" a game of your Dreamcast, it was obvious to me that you meant the Dreamcast version; furthermore from what I understand you don't and never owned the GameCube version.

Can we please keep on topic, please read first post on this and move any other discussion to the Dolphin forum.
This discussion is not relevant to solving the problem of music emulation in this game.

I fear that HLE sound will never work in this game, the real hope is LLE but at this time it is too slow...
Updated by ryanernst2008 over 13 years ago
Hello, I am new to this discussion, and I have been trying to get Skies of Arcadia to play through smoothly. now I can either have good audio (LLE) and slow frame rate, or I can have audio cut in with blips and such and a steady frame rate (HLE). From what I have read and understand, the LLE has a much higher system draw the HLE, but I would not think that would be an issue on my system. I may have misconfigured something, and if I did, I would love to see a working configuration using LLE in Dolphin r7369. I have attached the files I added to the Dolphin\Sys\GC folder to allow use and trial of the LLE settings. as for the hardware in my Computer, the basics are as follows:
i7 920 Quad core; 2.67 ghz
6 GB pc12800 dominator series RAM
NVIDIA GTX 460, 780 superclock (at default settings)
MSI X-58 Pro series gaming motherboard
Win 7 Ultimate x64
and currently been tinkering and trying to get Dolphin r7369 x64 to work. If there is any info you would like to allow for a more clear suggestion, just ask. I have also attached my dxdiag file for a more in depth look to my system.

I am having the same issue as all the above users.
Regardless of using HLE or LLE or dumbing down graphical quality to faster standards occurs all the time.
