this slowdown is already known

I had actually written about this a little while ago. To ameliorate the slow down issues, try disabling "Dual Core". To fix the background garbage in the menus, you need to set ESB copy to Ram and disable the external frame buffer.

The "background looks like garbage" problem does not happen on my system (Linux x86_64, Catalyst 11.7) with the last SVN revision. Maybe it was fixed with the texcache-rewrite merge?

Also, the slowdowns are mostly gone but still happen in every menu which display Magnus, for example the Deck menu, the Equip menu or the battle treasure screen. When profiling with gDEBugger, it looks like there are a lot of glReadPixels, so this is probably an EFB related issue.

Could anyone confirm that this bug was fixed by recent Dolphin revisions? I can't get the garbage you're talking about, and the slowdown was fixed by the gl-efb-cache merge.

Really I don't know what he (she?) wants to mean with "garbage", but see the attached image. You see the background of menu after a battle. As you see, the main character of the game, is shown hitting a monster (the last hit at the battle). So, I think he/she wants to say the background of the menu should not show the character, the background should be fill, with that dull yellow color.

This behaviour occurs in all instances of the game where the background is displayed (such as dialogue between characters).

The point is, I don't know if it is a kind of bug of the game, or a dolphin bug, or the game was made at this way.

In this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpsKgtOQF7k

You can see this behaviour on a dialog box background. Look the green color on it.

In this other video you can see too the behaviour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVK3A9G1eqU

The game was made so that a random screenshot of a battle is used as the background image in menus/dialogues AFAIK. At least I remember this from the original game.

However I can see the "garbage" with EFB to Texture, so this is probably a case of an effect which only works with EFB to RAM. I'm not sure if this can be emulated properly with EFB to Texture btw... needs more investigation.

r73a0bdd37967 might have fixed that. Could someone test this issue?
