Emulator Issues #4872
closedSuper Smash Brawl: Toon Link's win screen

Description
[The following is a template to help you fill out a more informative
report]
Note:
Many games do not run yet, or have known problems. Please do not report
those games without giving any more information. That means reports like
"Game XYZ crashes" are not helpful. Instead try to include as much debug
information as possible. Also try to search the issue tracker for similar
bugs before creating a new issue.
--------------------------------------
- Game Name and ID (as it appears in right click > properties: "GZ2P01",
"RSBE01", etc):
RSBJ01
2) What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The characters must be placed "behind" the match's statistic in the win screen. However, with this one of Toon Link's win poses in particular (showing him chasing a pig), the opposite occurs.
3) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on an
earlier version of dolphin? Please specify the exact revision when the
problem began.
Nope. Every revision I tested had this problem, which strangely happens with one and only one of Toon Link's win screens.
4) What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Run Super Smash Bros. Brawl (I use NTSC-J, but the region doesn't change this issue).
- Play a VS match with at least one Toon Link.
- Make Toon Link the victor.
5) What version of dolphin are you using (32bit/64bit along with the
version as it appears in the title bar: "R 4779", "R 6403M", "3.0", etc)?
On what operating system, drivers, and hardware? Be sure to list OS,
graphics driver information, and video card model if you are having
graphics problems, for example.
Now I'm using the dolphin-3.0-win64.exe available in the Downloads section (downloaded in September 28th, 2011), but every revision I tested had this problem.
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 x64
Processor: AMD Athlon Dual-Core QL-62 2GHz
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G
6) Please provide any additional information below.
AFAIK, this issue occurs with the D3D9 plugin specifically.
7) Attachments. IMPORTANT! We have a limited storage quota on
GoogleCode, so please use a 3rd party host for screenshots or any other
files (http://min.us/ for example).

This happens to all characters sporadically
Not just toon link

Yes, I tested it with the D3D9 plugin only. I'll try the others as soon as I'm back home.

Happens to me too with DX9 AND OpenGL, 1600x900, and the default Internal Resolution setting.
But I actually don't mind this, as it makes OpenGL's Anaglyphic 3D mode even better when the glitch happens. For example, Bowser REALLY pops out!

oh sh*t my bad!
it was a screenshot at 1680 by 1050
i didnt realize it was that big

I've tested it with the D3D11 plugin. This glitch didn't happen, but the post battle stats glitch occurs (corrupted with EFB Copy to Texture; missing with EFB Copy to RAM).
mbrewski, this glitch is not really sporadic - if you pay attention, it only occurs in some specific win screens.
Updated by school.player about 13 years ago
Actually, I would have to say that it IS sporadic, but it DOES occur more often with certain victory animations.

since this is a confirmed problem, can one of the admins mark it?

Could you upload a fifo player file for one frame where the problem is visible?
To create one, follow these steps:
- Start Dolphin
- Select "Tools->Fifo Player" from the menu
- Select the "Record" tab in the dialog that pops up.
- Set the number of "frames to record" to 1.
- Start the game (do NOT close the dialog)
- When you reached a place in the game where the problem is obvious, press the "Record" button in the Fifo Player dialog.
- Wait a bit until the "Save" button isn't grayed out anymore.
- Press the Save button and pick a location to store the fifo log.
- Upload the .dff file and post a link here.
Do NOT attach the files, use an external host instead, please.

*forgot to mention
seems to only happen when 'EFB copies' set to 'Virtual'
Updated by NeoBrainX almost 13 years ago
- Status changed from New to Questionable
... Try again with Dolphin 3.0 and LATEST builds. Report if it happens with EFB copies set to texture and/or if it happens with EFBP copies set to RAM (disable cache).
Updated by Staudi.Kaos almost 13 years ago
Seems like the zcomploc-support-branch fixed it, whereas latest master still has the problem. Both EFB copies set to Texture and RAM. All settings default. Oh yeah, and x64 build on Win 7.

- Status changed from Questionable to Duplicate
Thanks, that sounds good enough.
Merging into the main zcomploc issue.
