I just played through it on my own, D3D9, EFB to texture, build 3.5-414, got past the Krystal segments at the beginning. I believe I past the cutscene in question.

Yeah, I was past this point, the game works fine.

build 3.5-414 x64 gives me the same error

Can you give more concise computer specs? Are you using onboard graphics? What kind of error are you getting?

my graphics card on this laptop has 2G NVIDIA GDDR5 GeForce GT 640. I have 8G of RAM, Intel i7 QuadCore 2.10 GHz with hyperthreading, 64 bit windows 7 home premium. What else is there that you would need? and the error is that the game freezes at the same point in a certain cut scene and it forces the program to exit. i did find save files after every cutscene online, so if this error persists, i am able to just plug in a different memory card and go from there. but that gets tedious...

You might want to try redumping the game; as I said, I'm not having any problems continuing through it, minus some graphical errors in DX9.

Your processor and graphics aren't that different from my laptop, so, it must be either your disc dump, or drivers. Try updating your graphics drivers if redumping the game doesn't help.
