Description

Game Name?
Baten Kaitos Origins

Game ID?
GK4E01

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
The graphics become garbled when entering the North Nihal Desert.

What did you expect to happen instead?
The graphics should not be garbled.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Just enter the Nihal Desert. The memory card (http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=77139475344856076165) has a save right on top of the location.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
4.0-4469 and a variety of older builds.

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Yes. 4.0-1146 works and any version newer than that (4.0-1192 is the next one) does not work.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
Macbook Pro running Yosemite 10.10
Core i5 2.6ghz
Iris 5100

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

  • Status changed from New to Questionable

I blame a driver issue due to subpar mac drivers that seem to throw up randomly.

Can you confirm that EFB2Texture or RAM is enabled? In the rare case that a previously unemulated effect was fixed by tev-fixes-new, having EFB copies disabled would cause garbage like that too.

I have tried with both EFB2Texture and RAM with no effect on the issue.

That build exhibits the same issues. The change description says that it works around broken Intel Windows drivers, but these are broken Intel Mac drivers. In fact, an older laptop with an Intel HD3000 and Windows does not give the graphical corruption in OpenGL mode (although it runs extremely slowly).

Thank you for your efforts!

Heh, I was just taking a shot in the dark. I'll try to get someone with a mac to investigate it. Thanks again for being so prompt. I'm willing to accept an issue even if it's questionable in this kind of case.

This is likely a driver bug. If you have Mario Kart Wii, can you see if the minimap shows up properly on it?

It took some time to obtain Mario Kart Wii, but indeed the minimap is also glitched out. See http://imgur.com/wc8vJrb .

Well, same bug is what I'm guessing. It means the drivers are doing something wrong, and I'm not sure how to help you unfortunately.

Oh well. Thanks for trying anyway. I hoped that old versions working meant that a bug had crept in, but I guess I'm at the mercy of Intel now.

@JMC
Can you link to PR #1653 and #1666.
It's only D3D that's broken in #1666 currently so Mac users can still test both.

I tried with both of those builds and got the same bad effects with both. Sorry that it took some time to get back to you.

That's OK I'll figure this out.
