Description

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Most of the settings in the "Wii" tab of the main configuration window do not save whatsoever. I have tried modifying the INI directly, nothing happened. Additionally, I tried setting the settings in the Wii system menu. The settings remain if I launch a Wii game within the same session, but choosing "Stop Emulation" resets all of the settings.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  • Go to Options -> Configuration
  • Go to the Wii tab
  • Change any of the following:
    • Use PAL60 Mode (EuRGB60)
    • Enable Screen Saver
    • Sensor Bar Position
    • IR Sensitivity
    • Speaker Volume
    • Wii Remote Rumble
  • Close the emulator
  • Reopen it
  • All settings mentioned above are reset.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Issue is found in 5.0-5624
It is also found as far back as 5.0-5566
The issue was not present in 5.0-4869
If more information is needed, I can check more versions.

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

Windows 10 Pro x64 Build 15063
Intel Core i5-3570k CPU @3.4 GHz (clocked at 4.2 GHz)
Nvidia GTX 1060
16 GB of DDR3 RAM

Small Note: I have my "My Documents" library set to a non-default location on a separate drive (but I kind of can't test changing it back to default, due to disk space concerns)

Upon further investigation, no matter what I set the settings to in the last working version I mentioned, they are reset to those in the screenshot upon opening the latest version.

Bisect? It's probably using the sysconf settings over the menu settings...

For what it's worth, I can't reproduce the issue. Opened Dolphin, disabled PAL60, closed Dolphin, reopened it, PAL60 was still disabled. I tried this with other settings and it still worked.

I don't think it's using the SYSCONF settings over Dolphin's, as we make an effort to try and avoid losing values set in the SYSCONF and the UI...

Ok. Lemme go figure out how to actually bisect.

After several iterations of bisecting, the very first version of Dolphin that caused this issue was 5.0-5114. The version immediately before, 5.0-5108, saved and loaded all of the settings perfectly.

Also, the "standby connection" option in the WiiConnect24 settings will be reset to "off" after each reboot.

That the standby mode automatically turns off is intentional, since the standby mode currently doesn't work correctly in Dolphin.

Cannot reproduce the issue any longer.

Hm, for me, the following settings still reset after each restart:

  • Use PAL60 mode
  • Enable Screen Saver
  • Aspect Ratio
  • System Language
  • Sensor bar position
  • IR Sensitivity
  • Speaker Volume
  • Wii Remote Rumble

For me, for example, the system language is reset to german after each restart. Which suggests that after each reboot, the settings are used, which were set in the Wii at the time of dumping the NAND.

Will back off, I just did a quick test, if you're still experiencing issues, then, I'll leave it open. Apologies.

I setup an actual NAND and can confirm, the language gets overridden by NAND language.

How can I test this?
