I've tried all variations of recent builds and all have the same issue.
I have tried, opengl,dx9 & dx11 with no luck.
Trying to use software renderer, fails with an opcode missing at the start menu so seeing if it works there is not possible.
Might be releated to the other issue I have posted,
http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=5491&q=Magical%20Melody
But I do not think so at the current time.

Might be a zfreeze issue from the look of it. Strange that the software renderer fails here though.
Can you reproduce this issue with EFB to RAM too? I guess you tested that if you went all the way to testing with the software render.
Could you also upload (on a file host) a memory card with a save and a precise way to reproduce the issue for people who've never played the game?

Yes, issue does does occur with EFB to ram.
Load the game, press Y, then press shoulder L or R until you get to the map screen.

Has anyone put any work into this? Where should I start looking to poke around to get some results?

Out of curiosity, and not expecting to achieve anything except totally break the game, I enabled Custom Projection Hack and set the zNear and zFar corrections to some random values and nailed it on the first try. Turns out 2 and 4 are the golden numbers.
I haven't done any extensive checking to see if it interferes with any other graphics or only works with my current setup, but the map shows. Hope this helps.
