Description

Game Name?
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life

Game ID?
GYWEE9

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
During Night in the game (7PM to 4AM I believe) the game completely lags out. Plus, using the hasless "fix" makes the sound annoyingly choppy, and when fixed, the game continues to lag at night.

What did you expect to happen instead?
I expected there to be no issues.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Once the game is started (begins at day time) wait until the game clock shown in top right reaches 7PM
  2. Face any direction where the game has street lamps or houses have their windows and doors lighted
  3. Watch the lag
(Hashless has same problems, even though it is a claimed "fix")

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
Very latest version as well as "hashless" version

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
No, the "hashless" version is supposed to work, but it cuts out sound AND doesn't fix the major lag.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64x
Nvidia Gforce 9800/9800+ GTX
Not sure of CPU

Are you using the 32 or the 64 bit version of Dolphin?
64x

GameCube emulation is demanding. Not knowing your CPU makes me think that the night-time in this game is just demanding. If you had properly said your CPU, accurately described exactly how much the slowdown is, then maybe I'd be more apt to believe this was a fault of dolphin.

Slowdown in games is only considered a bug in very, very particular instances where the emulator is doing something very wrong. If it's going from 60 fps to 1 fps, or something like that, it may be considered (issue 6572)

Please be more descriptive both with your CPU, and how bad the problem is. Thank you.

Ah, figured out my CPU. It's an AMD Phenom II X4 960T Processor (3.00GHz).

Get a better CPU.

As far as I've read, my CPU should be one of the better ones to run most if not all emulated GameCube games, and fits all requirements that Dolphin stated. Plus, this problem also occurs with other users. If you could list any specific CPUs I could get, please let me know.

If you're talking about the recommendations listed on the official FAQ, those are kinda out-of-date. Pretty much everyone recommends an overclocked i5-4670K these days, and AMD CPUs are generally shunned for their currently-awful-compared-to-Intel's single/lightly-threaded performance.
