Emulator Issues #7931
closed[Linux] Launching a game directly after changing settings will crash
0%
Description
Game Name?
Not specific to any game, I think. Games that I've tried launching:
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (U)
Super Smash Bros Melee (U)
Mario Kart Double Dash (E)
Game ID?
GZLE01
GALE01
GM4P01
What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
It crashed, after I changed a setting (like internal resolution), then clicked "ok" or "close", then selected a ROM, then clicked "play".
What did you expect to happen instead?
It to launch the game without crashing Dolphin.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Launch Dolphin, pick any ROM and then play it, then stop emulation (but don't close Dolphin).
2.Open a settings window (like "config" menu, or "graphics", or possibly "GCpad"), and change a setting (I've mainly been switching bettwen 1x IR and 2x IR, but it crashes with any setting). After the setting has been changed, click the "ok" or "close" button.
3.Not really a step, but if you close and re-open Dolphin between the step above and the step below, then the crash doesn't happen.
4.Play the ROM again. After clicking "play", Dolphin should crash.
Note that after Step 4, you can re-open Dolphin and immediately launch the game, and it should launch with the changed settings as per normal.
Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
Dolphin 4.0-4163
Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Haven't tested on older versions of Dolphin yet.
What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
OS:Ubuntu 14.04 (64-bit, obviously)
CPU: FX 6300
GPU: R9 270X
Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)
Yes - I suspect that issue #7885 is related: https://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=7885&can=1&q=settings%20crash
I also suspect this is only a problem on Linux. Could someone please confirm?
