Description

Game Name?

Xenoblade Chronicles

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab)

SX4J01

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab, MD5 Hash: Compute)

417ae4be3c127e0204dfdb0617963ddf

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Get Warning of

Invalid Read from 0x00000008, PC = 0x804085d4

after the loading is finished and before "Press Any Key" shows up. After clicking "OK", it keeps poping another 3 warnings of invalid read addresses being 0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000004.

If want to upgrade my skills, the 4 warnings will repeat endlessly, and trying to stop the emulation will cause the emulator to freeze.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

As described above, it can be reproduced by starting the game or upgrading skills. And I'm using the Simplified Chinese version game of wbfs format.

Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?

5.0-3600

The stable version actually works well, but has some minor graphic and sound stuttering issues, and the newest version is much smoother.

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

i7-5820k, GTX 1080, WIN 10

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

Screenshots.

Sorry that I forgot to remove the placeholder of title :(

How can I edit it?

Since it works in 5.0 but not 5.0-3600, it would be helpful if you bisected so that we'll know which version the issue started in.

Okey, I tried just now, and it worked well in 5.0-530 but not in 5.0-540.

Your md5 hash seems to be unknown. May you double check that you have a valid dump of this game?

  • Status changed from New to Accepted
  • Milestone set to current

It's the NTSC-J version, which nobody has a known dump of + it being WBFS. Considering it works in 5.0 stable, this bisect is likely valid

I'd suggest trying if it works fine with EFBToTextureEnable = False (i.e. unticking "Store EFB Copies to Texture Only" under Graphics - Hacks).

What makes me believe that this might fix it is that for instance Endless Ocean 2 (R4EP01 et al) exhibits very similar symptoms when enabling the aforementioned option.

Thanks for the advice, but sadly it's not working :(

Do you have any cheatcodes enabled?

Not as far as I know. I use the default configuration of dolphin emulator.

Have you tried not using a WBFS version? I noticed our support is kinda bad.

  • Status changed from Accepted to Questionable

Have you tried verifying the partition integrity? Right click on the game in the game list, Properties, Filesystem, right click on the game partition and select Check Partition Integrity.

Until your dump is known to be correct, I'm going to mark this as questionable. Dolphin has become a bit stricter with memory accesses since 5.0.

  • Status changed from Questionable to Invalid

Marking as invalid unless the issue can be shown to happen on an unpatched version of the game or the patched version of the game can be shown to work on a real console.
