Description
I would like if the dolphin default save game location is located in the user's document's folder ala pcsx2 so that i wont lose my save file each time i accidently delele the old svn to test new one.
sorry for bad grammar..

Yeah, PCSX2 manages this way better, while the installer IMHO is unnecessary in this kind of software, they way the saves and settings are stored is brilliant and avoids problems under vista/7

- Status changed from New to Accepted
- Issue type set to Feature request
- Relates to usability set to Yes
- Operating system Windows added
All but windows uses this scheme already, apparently noone found it necessary to implement the same on windows.
You can check Issue 2233 for the non-Win32 way of dealing with it, but it explicitly doesn't speak of windows there.

It would also be nice if it was possible to translate those 003200232440b folders to the titles of the games ;)

Correct me if i'm wrong, since i don't have access to Dolphin right now, but i'm pretty sure in Settings > Gamecube > Memory Card, you can set a path to the memory card, e.g you could set it to c:/Users/yourself/DolphinSaves/memorycardA.raw now that's only for Gamecube saves though, but we could allow the user to set a path to the Wii filesystem instead of hardcoding it into dolphin pwd.

yup the dolphin allow to change the path of the memory card.. but i would like the default save location in the user's documents also.. save me alot of time to set the path and copy paste the wii's save folders..
not to mention to remap back all the buttons...
Updated by frango0010 about 14 years ago
Even though you can change the path, it would be better if it could be defaulted to the documents folder, so you don't have to change all over again everytime you update the revision. Also, if possible, things like control plugins' profiles to be save at the documents folder would be nice too (the profiles at user > config > profiles), and also screenshots...

for now you could just move your dolphin/user folder to the new build

Wtf? I posted an issue very much like this one MONTHS ago and it never got a second glance from anyone. Issue 2393
Updated by sl1nk3.s about 14 years ago
MofoMan2000, you didn't do a good job advertising your issue !
joke aside, your issue probably was lost in the middle of the sea of non-sense issue we sometime get :(

I'll take this one if no one else does. I would really enjoy this enhancement as well. I'm a c++ dev, but haven't written any code for this tool yet... Hook us up!

@ bradgearon
If you create a patch and it is good, you will probably get commit access.

Yes, these should be user configurable. I plan on keeping my config and saves in DropBox. :)

As of ~7283 (indeterminate specifically) and later, I am unable to change my GC memory card save location and have it "Stick" through close and reopen. (also known in 7330). additionally, I suggest having the current location directory shown below each dropdown

as of r7555 it is possible to configure the NAND root (which is where wii saves are stored)
Updated by mantoxpub about 12 years ago
I suggest that ALL the user subdir paths ("ScreenShots", "StateSaves", etc.) should be configurable.
