Game Name?
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean

Game ID?
GKBEAF

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.

when playing "Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean" the game creates a file named "ogl-GKBEAF-shaders.cache" inside the "ShaderCache" folder and the file takes a lot of space, last time i checked it had 17GB!!!

This issue needs some attention, hope the developers take a look at this.

This was tested on the latest Dolphin revisions "4.0-4969" and "4.0-5328".

What did you expect to happen instead?

I expected the game to create that file but not that huge, like i said it was over 17GB!!!

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]

1.Select OpenGL
2.Play the game
3.When you close the game the file is created. The file could be 3GB but after a while it will keep increasing and will get huge.

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
"4.0-4969" and "4.0-5328"

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
I don't use older versions, i only use the recent revisions.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)

[CPU]: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz
[GPU]: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5
[PSU]: EVGA SuperNOVA G1 1000W (80 Plus Gold)
[RAM]: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz
[MOBO]: MSI Z97-GAMING 5
[PC CASE]: ENERMAX Ostrog GT (Red)
[CPU FAN]: Cooler Master: Hyper 212 EVO
[OS]: Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

Yikes. Here, have a more descriptive issue title.

It is an old issue that seems to be caused by the combination of opengl and single core.

plus a crash. I think this issue is already open and this is a duplicate.

For me it happens with dual core enabled as well (confirm OpenGL + crash)

I meant crash when closing game window (not crash during gameplay)...

I never saw this with older revisions (around 4.0.2) when I was playing the NTSC version. Does it still happen on the stable release?

On the stable 4.0.2 it does not happen.

Right now i did another test in the latest "4.0-5378" revision, just skipping the intro and pressing the "New Game" option and playing it for 3 secs and then hitting "ESC" to close the game it froze the emulator, i had to force quit it, after the force quit it created a 5GB file...

Afterwards i did the same test but instead of force quitting it i let the emulator exit the game normally, it took like 2 minutes to finally close the game but after that the file went up to 17GB!!! again.

The best thing to do is bisect revisions until you find the one in which the issue started. Without that, it will be very difficult for the devs to move forward.

Bisect it; seriously, if you want it fixed and other people can't reproduce it, you need to pinpoint the build so we can figure out what could possibly be going wrong to produce something wrong like this.

I tried to bisect the revisions but the revision "4.0-2496" and below is crashing the emu, meaning i can't open it. The last old revision that worked is "4.0-2498" and it still created the huge file. But at least that's a start.

If someone keeps checking the revisions below "4.0-2496" we can narrow it down.

This shouldn't be able to happen any more. Please try the latest development versions.

Any response?

Sorry for the delay.

I can confirm that the issue with the large "shadercache" file is indeed fixed in recent revision. Awesome!

Keep up the awesome work dudes.
