I have a video prepared for the release, though it's probably a couple of months out of date at this point. It has none of the features after the feature freeze added, so, someone would need to double check with me on what would be needed to be added.

NZ-HLE, Real Wiimote Audio are all I can think of off the top of my head.

If you want to depict 5.0 completely accurately, you need to re-record everything because of the aspect ratio changes :P
(Or fix it in post-production if you can find out what the aspect ratios are)

Just writing down all of our plans we've talked about (as I understand them).

The release announcement article will be the focus of the announcement campaign, and the video will be the focus of the release announcement article! There will also be a changelist, akin to the prior 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 releases, and then a list of those that helped with the release(s), and a list of contributors to dolphin between 4.0 and 5.0. (holy crap it will be a long one!). The rest of the information is not as interesting or as useful to a user as the video, though, so the video will go right on top of the page, with nothing more than a 5.0 header (I'm been using a certain motif in 5.0 announcements so far specifically to help with recognizing it) and a small introduction above the video. The video needs to be immediately and prominently visible! I'll even shrink the header or remove the header if need be. Whatever works best.

Twitter and facebook will have posts announcing the release article, of course. The video on youtube will serve as its own release announcement there. To make sure there are no mixups with the URLs that happened with the Nov 2015 progress report, I'd like to make sure we have people pre-prepared to post to reddit, since that is one of our most important venues (and authors cannot post their articles, I can't do it and neither can JMC). I was thinking we can get a bunch of volunteers collected, and when the time comes to publish, we poll the IRC to who is on, and delegate who posts where before the article goes up!

The forum will be pretty easy, just link to the announcement as we have done for all threads these days.

The wiki already has some new automation procedures and templates for the change over in place, which should make it a LOT smoother this time! I have some worries about RC handling, but Kolano has a plan for it.

I think that is everything. If I missed anything someone let me know!

Something we haven't done in a past but might be useful is to provide a press release. Might help in spreading the news. Never done that before so I'm not sure how long we need to spend on it or how much it will be useful.

Oh! I forgot that the various guides and things will need to be updated on the wiki. Once we hit feature freeze, I'll post to the guys that all of the guides will need to be checked and updated.

The FAQ will also need to be checked, too.

Also for the download page (https://dolphin-emu.org/download/) it would make sense to move the stable versions section back to the top of the download list, at least for a while.

Actually I believe it might make more sense to instead separate the stable versions list into two different lists, something like 'Stable version' and 'Old versions' with 5.0 as stable and 4.0.2 etc. as old. Maybe have it from top down as: Stable version (5.0) -> Development versions (show previous x dev builds, I think this could be reduced from the current 10) -> Old versions (4.0.2, 4.0.1, etc.), and the extra sections like source code at the bottom.

Once we're down to about 10 issues will get into trying to test everything. We'll make a checklist of features that need to be tested and setups.

The 5.0 video is currently on hold due to font issues. I'll continue working on it once I figure out how to import it.

I don't know how to get the typeface I was using working on Windows 10. It was working before my wipe, but now it just comes up as the defaults. Redoing all the writing in the video would be a huge task using a new typeface.

Article needs to be cleaned up, but is mostly ready. Video is ~90% done.
