Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Game ID: SB4P01

The goombas and bushes should not flicker.
-
This issue appears to be related to dx11 and a lighting issue.
- During the first stage where mario is beamed to the planet, the goombas and bushes flicker.
- This is right after you see the enormous Wario.
- The problem does not produce with dx9
- Dolphin version 3.0 64bit

PC, settings, don't use 3.0, use the latest builds?
Updated by elessarjd about 12 years ago
Confirming that I have this exact issue too. Same version.

Do you think it's a good idea to provide some information about the issue? Maybe take longer than 5 seconds with your post and tell us "which" revision(s) you've tried. If you've only tested with the official 3.0 release (as you claim, "same version"), you need to also test with the latest revision. Posting your PC specs is very helpful, stuff like: OS/CPU/GPU and whatever else is relevant. The Dolphin settings you're using is also a good thing to mention in a game issue, so post that as well. Chances are, if you spend less than 5 seconds creating the issue, (or commenting in one) you can't really expect a developer to spend longer than 5 seconds when they mark your issue as invalid and close it.

What he said, plus:
a) for future bug reports, leave the issue template (or at least the questions) as it is.
b) Suppose any dev who'd like to work on this issue hasn't played SMG2, how is he supposed to know how to get to "the enormous Wario"?
Like SS said, put more than 5 seconds into the issue report. This isn't a support forum, it's about working together to get issues fixed. An issue report doesn't serve any purpose if devs have to ask 1000 questions just to understand wtf is going on.

@tommy: I was just confirming what the OP said, which seemed to be enough. Your vitriol isn't really necessary. I'll get more info when I'm at my gaming rig.

-Dolphin 3.0 rev 765
-Core i5 3570k, nVidia GTX 670, 8GB RAM
-Default Settings for Dolphin, although I tried multiple other settings that did not fix the problem.
The lighting issue occurs on Goombas, Plants and Boxes. Best way to describe it is they don't light up normally like the rest of the environment. Screenshots...

This appears to be the same glitch happening in a ton of games. Not sure if they should all be merged or what.
I also had this issue occur on OpenGL.
Updated by JMC4789 about 11 years ago
This should be fixed in OGL as of revision 75f2738f5c32bc7a28078983d1a7da2c31e7acbf
I can no longer reproduce it in D3D11.
Updated by JMC4789 about 11 years ago
I meant that I can no longer reproduce it in OGL. Oops. D3D11 still has the problem to my knowledge because none of the other games are fixed either.

I don't know when it was fixed but it's just fixed
On latest master build both OGL and D3D look the same

This is not fixed; it only happens sporadicly. Please thoroughly test issues before closing them.

Ok, but please tell me how can i reproduce this issue
Updated by JMC4789 over 10 years ago
It's sporadic; it tends to happen after a while. If you have recorded any fifo-logs of the issue, they will reproduce it (Unless aspects of the issue are fixed?)
I just know that playing it for an hour I ran into said issue twice yesterday. I have a fifolog of the issue in Mario Kart Double Dash!!, but I should have recorded one in this game.
